How to Submit...

Journalism and Mass Communication Abstracts, an annual AEJMC online-only publication, is part of the association’s effort to make information about mass communication research available to a wide community of scholars. Abstracts of graduate student’s research theses and dissertations are published in Journalism and Mass Communication Abstracts, but abstracts of graduate students’ professional reporting or creative projects are excluded. Students who complete requirements for master’s or doctoral degrees are encouraged to submit abstracts of their work to the journal as quickly as their committee approves the completed project to help lessen the delay between receipt of manuscripts and publication of the abstract’s volume. Submissions should include the title of the work, author’s name and degree designation (M.A., M.S., MSMC, etc), month and year degree was granted, granting institution, name of the thesis/dissertation chair, and permanent address of the author. Students are also requested to provide key words to be used to categorize studies in the subject index section. Thesis submissions are limited to 250 words maximum while dissertations are limited to 500 words. The purpose of the abstract is to define and describe the study. The abstractor could, for example, divide the abstract into sections such as purpose, research questions, methods, and findings. Or the researcher may follow the more thematic approach with a discussion of the study and its findings for historical or legal studies. An examination of past issues of Journalism and Mass Communication Abstracts is encouraged. Additional information may be obtained by calling the editor at (870) 972-3075/3029, FAX (501) 972-3848 or email: filfowler@hotmail.com.

Submissions should be sent to:
