Teaching Committee Seeks Research Papers

The AEJMC Standing Committee on Teaching, in conjunction with J&MC Educator, is sponsoring a special paper call for the 2013 AEJMC Conference in Washington, DC, on research related to teaching. Different topics are welcome, ranging from papers aimed at improving the teaching of a specific course to “big picture” papers intended to address pedagogical philosophy. Any methodological procedures are welcome. Papers may address disseminating research results and knowledge on learning and teaching; encouraging efforts to improve instruction through development of innovative materials and techniques; sound instructional designs; improved evaluation methodologies; and enhancing the status of teaching in the university and beyond.

Criteria:

• Papers must include original research.
• Papers must follow standard guidelines for AEJMC submission of research papers. Reflections on a personal teaching experience or descriptions of teaching techniques will not be accepted.
• Authors must be available to present their papers at AEJMC during a special panel if their papers win first-, second- or third-place in the competition.

Winning papers will be submitted for review to J&MC Educator, and also will receive a cash prize: first: $250, second: $150, third: $100. Honorable mentions may also be awarded, but no cash will be provided. Winners will also present their papers at AEJMC’s Washington Conference.

SUBMIT PAPERS VIA ALL ACADEMIC (where AEJMC 2013 conference papers will be uploaded). Deadline for papers is April 1, 2013. Please follow the AEJMC guidelines from the general call for papers. For more information, email Linda Aldoory.
