Assistant Professor – Professional Communications
Farmingdale State College, a campus of the State University of New York, is a college of applied science and technology with an enrollment of more than 9,000 students. As the largest of SUNY’s colleges of technology, Farmingdale equips students with the resources and critical thinking skills sought by today’s emerging industries through its Schools of Business, Engineering Technology, Health Sciences, and Liberal Arts & Sciences. Farmingdale offers 38 undergraduate degree programs and will offer its first Master’s program in the Fall 2017 semester. Farmingdale State College Department of Professional Communications invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor. We are seeking a highly qualified candidate with good communication skills who has demonstrated excellence in teaching. Candidates are sought with a minimum of one year of teaching experience at the undergraduate level, whether full-time, part-time or as a sole instructor teaching assistant. The successful candidate is expected to have an agenda of scholarship that complements his or her area of academic specialization and has the potential for peer-reviewed publications and presentations. The successful candidate will also contribute to the functioning and governance of the institution at the departmental, school, and college-wide level, including such activities as student advisement, curriculum development, and serving on committees and task forces.
QUALIFICATIONS: PhD. in Communications, Media Studies, or closely related field; Minimum of one year of college teaching experience in the field of communications; an agenda of scholarship with potential for peer-reviewed publications and presentations relevant to the field of communications
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of one year of professional experience in the field of communications; experience with student advisement
