COMMUNICATION/PUBLIC RELATIONS. The Department of Communication at The College at Brockport, SUNY, seeks candidates with expertise in public relations for the position of Lecturer of Public Relations. It is possible this position will be renewable. The job begins in August 2017.
Responsibilities: Teach four courses each semester at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels. Courses may include Public Relations Writing; Public Relations Principles & Practices; Public Relations Methods and Cases; Public Relations Campaigns; or other media-related courses. Expected to participate in departmental and college service, including advising the Public Relations Club. Assist students in finding PR internships and/or jobs.
Required qualifications: Master’s degree in public relations or related field with professional experience. Candidates must demonstrate evidence of prior experience teaching public relations and ability to teach a culturally diverse student population.
Preferred qualifications: Doctorate or ABD in public relations or related field. Interest in social media. Ability to work with professional colleagues who utilize a variety of approaches to communication study. Ongoing scholarship or creative works OR potential for ongoing scholarship or creative works. The College at Brockport is a comprehensive institution of approximately 8,500 undergraduate and graduate students and is located in the college-friendly village of Brockport, near Rochester, NY. The Department of Communication houses more than 400 undergraduate majors, 10 full-time faculty in Communication Studies and in Journalism and Broadcasting, and a graduate program.
