Samford University invites individuals interested in serving in a Christian university environment to submit applications for instructor or assistant professor in broadcast journalism. This nontenure-track faculty position is a one-year appointment beginning August 2017.

Qualified candidates will hold an earned master’s degree in mass communication or related field with a minimum of one year of professional experience in broadcast journalism; Ph.D. in mass communication or related field is preferred. Ability to teach sports media and film production is preferred.  A commitment to academic excellence, and the ability to work effectively with faculty, students and colleagues is expected. Candidates must support the Christian mission of Samford.

Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until position is filled. Please send letter of application, curriculum vita, three references, evidence of teaching effectiveness, description of leadership experience, research interests and activities, and philosophy of teaching in a Christian university, specifically supported by two syllabi within the last three semesters. Philosophy must include discussion of how candidate has contributed to Christian mission in their career and how candidate will contribute to the Christian mission of Samford.
