The Jandoli School of Communication at St. Bonaventure University invites applications for dean. Anticipated start date is January, 2018.

The Jandoli School is rooted in a tradition of professional experience and engagement and a history that includes six Pulitzer-winning alumni.  The successful candidate will oversee two undergraduate majors (journalism and strategic communication) and two graduate programs (integrated marketing communication and strategic leadership). Additionally, a third graduate program in feature film production is under review at New York State Department of Education. Online teaching and leadership experience is necessary.

Duties of the dean will include:

  • managing the school’s financial matters, including the budget and fundraising in an upcoming University-wide capital campaign, which may include development of a new physical space for the Jandoli School;
  • overseeing ongoing development of the curriculum;
  • working with an established advisory council;
  • participating in professional organizations and in University and School-specific events

The dean will lead and support a faculty that engages in interdisciplinary teaching and research and that remains current in their fields through ongoing professional and creative endeavors. The faculty also actively encourage and support mentored undergraduate and graduate research.

Applicants should have an appropriate terminal degree in a communication-related field; at least ten years of experience working in a communication field; prior college teaching experience; experience in a leadership role at the chair level at minimum.
