ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF MASS MEDIA

Baker University’s Department of Mass Media invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor beginning August 2018. The successful candidate will have expertise in digital media and journalism with an appreciation for the role of the Mass Media curriculum in a liberal arts setting. In addition to teaching in the department’s core curriculum, duties will include serving as faculty adviser to the student newspaper and accompanying online site.  Applicants must be comfortable using and teaching media production software, especially Adobe Creative Cloud, as well as WordPress-based content management.  Courses to be taught may include Writing for Mass Media, Editing, Advanced Reporting, Digital Media, Publications Design, Graphic Design, Video Production, and Sports Writing.

The department’s Mass Media program, a regional leader in online student media, is home to award-winning student-run print and online newspapers and radio and TV stations, as well as strong Public Relations and sports broadcasting programs. The major is structured around tracks in Multimedia, Public Relations, and Sports Media.

Candidates with doctorate in hand by August 2018 preferred; ABD and MA/MS considered. Professional media experience is highly desirable.
