Open Rank Position in Strategic Communication with a focus on Multicultural Issues

The Department of Advertising, Public Relations and Media Design (APRD) at the University of Colorado Boulder invites applications for an open rank position (full, associate, or assistant professor level) in the area of strategic communication to begin August 2018.

The successful candidate would be a proven leader exhibiting a track record of commitment to multicultural issues and historically underrepresented communities in higher education through areas of research, teaching, leadership, and/or service. The individual will be expected to make a substantial contribution to the department’s efforts to create an academic community that is rich with cultural, social, and intellectual diversity through departmental leadership roles, undergraduate and graduate teaching, and research. The individual is expected to teach two courses per semester, and to continue or establish a research agenda focused on issues related to strategic communication and diversity, including (but not limited to) the effects of strategic communication messages on marginalized populations; the representation of marginalized populations in strategic communication; inequalities in strategic communication messages; inequalities in strategic communication industries; and/or the empowerment of marginalized groups through strategic communication.

Preferred candidates would hold a Ph.D. and tenure at the full or associate rank at a peer institution and demonstrate a track record of leadership within a department. For consideration at the tenure-track, assistant professor rank, candidates would hold a Ph.D. in advertising, mass communication, or a related field, and demonstrate a well-defined research agenda and evidence of scholarly publication and the ability to teach strategic communication courses.
