Assistant Professor of Sports Communication

The Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts at Coastal Carolina University invites applications for a tenure-track position as Assistant Professor of Sports Communication. The appointment will be effective August 16, 2018.

A Ph.D. in Communication, Mass Communication, Media Studies, Public Relations or related area is required. The successful candidate must be well qualified to teach courses in Sports Communication. Duties also include being an active scholar, advising students, and service to the department and university.  Additional teaching experience that aligns with one of the department’s existing concentration areas in Communication Studies, Interactive Journalism, or PR/Integrated Communication is strongly preferred. The successful candidate will work with members of the department to develop courses for a new concentration in Sports Communication. A record indicating potential for scholarly productivity and institutional service are required. Teaching assignments may include evening/weekend courses.

The Department of Communication, Media and Culture is one of Coastal Carolina University’s largest departments serving over 600 majors and 100 minors. The Department offers programs and courses in Communication Studies, Health Communication, Interactive Journalism, and Public Relations/Integrated Communication.
