Assistant Professor in Public Relations

The College at Brockport is seeking an engaged, innovative, and creative tenure-track Assistant Professor in Public Relations to help build our newly formed Department of Journalism, Broadcasting and Public Relations.

Responsibilities:
Teach three courses each semester at the undergraduate level. Courses may include Public Relations Writing, Public Relations Methods and Cases, Public Relations Campaigns, Special Topic Courses on Public Relations, or media-related courses. Advise our award-winning student Public Relations Club. Expected to do peer-reviewed scholarship and participate in college service, including advising. Assist students in finding PR internships and/or jobs.

Required Qualifications:

  • Doctorate or ABD in public relations or a related field from an accredited US Dept. of Education or internationally recognized institution.¬†ABD candidates must earn doctoral degree within six months of hire.
  • Professional experience in PR.
  • Evidence of successful teaching, ability to teach public relations, ongoing scholarship or potential for ongoing scholarship, and the ability to teach a culturally diverse student population.

Preferred Qualifications:
Interest in social media and ability to work with professional colleagues who utilize a variety of approaches to scholarship and creative works.
