Christopher (CJ) Giacomo Yoshi Calabrese, PhD, MPH is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication at Clemson University and a Faculty Scholar with the Clemson University School of Health Research. His research examines how digital information environments and communication interventions influence decision-making, health behavior, and societal outcomes. His work investigates the effects of digital media, misinformation, and artificial intelligence to develop evidence-based communication strategies that promote health.
His research has been published in leading journals including Nature Human Behaviour, New Media & Society, Health Communication, Scientific Reports, Science Communication, and Telematics and Informatics. He received the 2025 Early Career Award from the Public Health Education and Health Promotion Section of the American Public Health Association.
He currently serves as the PF&R Chair for the Communicating Science, Health, Environment and Risk Division at AEJMC and as the Treasurer for the Public Health Education and Health Promotion Section at APHA. He is also an active member of the International Communication Association and the National Communication Association.
