Strategic Communications Tenure-Track Faculty Position

The West Virginia University Reed College of Media seeks an energetic, innovative faculty member for a tenure-track assistant professor position in strategic communications/public relations, with a start date of August 2018.

The College encourages and supports innovation through teaching, research and service activities.

Professional & Teaching Experience: The College of Media prides itself on its innovative, experiential curricula. Ideal candidates should have recent professional experience in strategic communications/public relations, successful collegiate teaching experience, and a passion for collaborative engagement. Primary teaching assignments will include service learning and experiential courses, such as strategic communications writing, strategic communications campaigns, and our new student-run agency course. Skills in graphics and/or video production are a plus. The College currently offers three master’s programs, two of which are professionally oriented and specific to integrated communications.

Research: An earned doctorate in communications, public relations, strategic communications, integrated marketing communications or related field by the time of the August 2018 appointment is required as well as relevant professional experience. Candidates must demonstrate evidence of, or strong potential for, establishing and maintaining a scholarly research program.

The Reed College of Media’s strategic communications major is ACEJMC–accredited. WVU is a very high research (R-1), land-grant university with a strong commitment to service and outreach. The College houses and supports the collaborative Public Interest Communication (PIC) Research Lab as part of its new Media Innovation Center.
