The Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University seeks a postdoctoral research fellow contributing to the groundbreaking LibrES project aimed at combating gender-based violence in El Salvador. As part of an interdisciplinary effort funded by a grant from USAID, you will work alongside Principal Investigators (PIs) and collaborators to coordinate project activities, conduct research, collect and analyze data, create presentations, and publish findings.

This position is grant-funded and will renew annually for up to a maximum of three years, contingent on the continued availability of funding. The start date is flexible between June and August of 2024.

Essential Duties

• Coordinate project activities, liaising with local partners and team members across various disciplines.
• Conduct research on gender-based violence in El Salvador, including data collection and analysis.
• Assist in the development of media campaigns aimed at raising awareness and combating stereotypes related to gender-based violence.
• Contribute to the creation of educational materials for students in a range of disciplines as well as professionals with local agencies, promoting sensitivity and trauma-informed practices.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure effective communication and implementation of project goals.
• Present research findings at conferences and workshops, both nationally and internationally.
• Contribute to the publication of papers in peer-reviewed journals, disseminating insights and recommendations for addressing gender-based violence.

Required Qualifications

• PhD in Advertising, Public Relations, Media and Information, Journalism, Mass Communication, or a related field, completed by the time of appointment

Desired Qualifications

• Proficiency in English and Spanish, with strong written and verbal communication skills in both languages
• Demonstrated research experience, including data collection, analysis, and publication in peer-reviewed journals
• Ability to work collaboratively in interdisciplinary teams and with diverse stakeholders
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively
• Commitment to advancing knowledge and promoting social change in the field of gender-based violence
• Experience with eye tracking research
