The Department of Communication at William Paterson University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor with a specialization in Strategic Communication. Start date is September 1, 2018.

The position is responsible for teaching classes in Public Relations, Strategic Multi-Platform Writing, Integrated Communication, Mobile/Social Media, Web Metrics/Analytics and related areas at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Opportunities exist for new course development and special topics offerings at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

The successful candidate must hold a Ph.D. in Communication or related discipline (ABD candidates will be considered but the Ph.D. must be obtained by September 1, 2018) or a Master’s degree with substantial professional experience in public relations and/or marketing. Experience in writing, editing, and managing content for blogs, corporate websites, social media platforms and other similar platforms required.  A clear peer-reviewed research/publication agenda is required. A record of professional and/or scholarly publication is preferred. Applicants must have a minimum of two years of teaching experience at the college level and/or relevant professional experience.

The successful candidate is expected to maintain an active peer-reviewed creative and/or research agenda; participate in the life of the university contributing to curriculum development; serve on committees; advise students; and attend University and College functions.

The Department of Communication at William Paterson University invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor with a specialization in Video Production. Start date is September 1, 2018.

The position is responsible for teaching classes in all levels of TV Studio Production and courses in video production and editing.  Opportunities exist for new course development and special topics offerings at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

The successful candidate must possess a terminal degree in Television/Media production (ABD candidates will be considered but the Ph.D. must be obtained by September 1, 2018) or a Master’s degree with strong relevant professional experience.  Applicants must have a minimum of two years of teaching experience at the college level; experience with a variety of methodologies is preferred.  Professional experience with a track record of professional media production projects is required.

The successful candidate must have professional television production and television studio production experience working with digital technologies. Also required is the ability to teach undergraduate-level courses in the areas of television studio, single-camera production, and video editing in a tapeless, networked environment. Additionally, a demonstrated expertise in storytelling using a variety of digital production tools and fluency in social media tools and techniques is required.

Rowan University

Rowan University’s Department of Public Relations/Advertising welcomes applications for a full-time (10-month), tenure-track Assistant Professor to join the department September 1, 2018.

The Department seeks a strategic communicator who can teach both skill-based and strategic planning classes in public relations and advertising. The individual should have a technology-driven focus as well as use traditional PR and advertising approaches. Additionally, the individual should be able to conduct cross-disciplinary research and contribute to a department that looks favorably on multidisciplinary approaches to strategic communication. Expertise in sports public relations or educational public relations is also desirable.

A Ph.D. or equivalent is required for this position. ABD candidates with dissertation nearing completion will be considered. The terminal degree is required at time of appointment. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
