Assistant Department Head and Professor or Associate Professor
Journalism and Mass Communication Department, 9-month

Responsibilities include overseeing curriculum development and scheduling, working with departmental committees, assisting with faculty development and day-to-day administration of the department and serving as department head in her absence. This position will also teach classes as assigned and maintain a scholarly agenda. SDSU actively seeks to increase social and intellectual diversity among its faculty. Minimum qualifications: an earned doctorate in journalism and mass communication or related field, established record of research and publication, University teaching, leadership and program development, rank of tenured professor or associate professor, and effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred qualifications:
Expertise in leadership in faculty development, current media technology, and teaching courses in multi-media design and production.

Assistant Professor and Online Graduate Advisor
Journalism and Mass Communication Department, 9-month, Tenure-track.

Responsibilities include serving as advisor to all of the graduate students enrolled in the online master’s degree and teaching introductory and research methodology classes for graduate students and honors classes as assigned. Developing relationships with university and professional constituencies and continuing a scholarly agenda are also included. Minimum qualifications include an earned doctorate in journalism and mass communication, advertising, marketing or related field; graduate-level teaching experience in journalism and mass communication; an established record of research and publication and effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred qualifications include online teaching experience, graduate-level advising experience and quantitative research and/or media analytics expertise.
