The Department of Journalism &amp; Communication invites applications for a <b>Professor of Practice in Journalism</b> to begin January 2014 or August 2014, depending on the schedule of the candidate. The professor will teach three courses each semester. One of those courses each semester entails advising the print and digital versions of the campus newspaper, published twice weekly since 1894. Experience with advising college newspapers is required and experience with design and administration of content management systems is a plus. Other courses may include writing for media, editing and reporting.</p>
<p>The candidate should have relevant professional and teaching experience. A relevant Ph.D. or Master’s degree is required by appointment start date. This non-tenure-track position has an initial appointment of three years and is renewable upon completion. Salary and benefits are highly competitive.</p>
<p>The department has served a small undergraduate program of superior quality since 1927. It has six full-time and five part-time faculty. With major programs in journalism and journalism/science and environmental writing, it enrolls about 150 majors and minors. <a href="http://www.lehigh.edu/journalism">http://www.lehigh.edu/journalism</a>. The department is also active in numerous interdisciplinary initiatives in global studies, environmental studies, health, American Studies and more.</p>

Lehigh is located on a scenic, 1,600-acre campus in historic Bethlehem in eastern Pennsylvania, adjacent to Allentown and Easton, and about one and one-half hours from New York and Philadelphia. Elizabethtown College is seeking an <b>Assistant Professor of Communications</b>. This is a tenure track, nine-month position beginning in August 2014. A terminal degree in Communications or related area expected, but ABDs will be considered. Those with previous college teaching and professional experience are especially encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will also have an established research agenda and a portfolio of design work. The college follows the Teacher-Scholar model and course workload is three 4-credit courses per semester; maximum class size is 35 students. Internal funds and grants are available for scholarship and professional development.</p>
<p>Primary teaching responsibility will be in the area of visual communication and design. Secondary areas of interest might include: public speaking, international communication, and/or multi-media story telling. Please note that the Department delivers a generalist curriculum and faculty members are expected to be able to teach in multiple areas. The Department seeks candidates with dynamic teaching skills who are able to incorporate experiential and active learning pedagogies into their teaching. <p>The Department of Journalism and Multimedia Arts at Duquesne University seeks to hire a tenure-track, <b>Assistant Professor</b> for the Multiplatform Journalism position beginning in August 2014. The candidate will teach Multiplatform news reporting, news writing, and editing, Web, and a variety of digital applications. The candidate will also teach students to shoot and edit video, and possess hands-on familiarity with Abode Creative Suite and other state-of-the art digital storytelling programs such as MediaStorm. This position will require hands-on instructional expertise in the lab, the field and in our recently upgraded multimedia studio. We are more interested in candidates with Print/Web/Backpack/Video journalism experience as opposed to on-air/affiliate broadcast news reporting. The School of Communication at American University in Washington, D.C. announces the availability of a one-year, non-renewable term appointment at the rank of <b>Instructor</b> or <b>Professorial Lecturer</b>, depending on education and experience, beginning in August 2013. Candidates must have significant professional journalism experience (five years or more) and at least a master’s degree. University-level teaching experience is highly preferred.<b><br />

<b>Qualifications:</b> Candidates should have significant professional experience (five years or more) in broadcast journalism, with radio or television experience that includes writing, reporting, and editing. Ideally, the person would be comfortable teaching video shooting and non-linear editing such as Final Cut Pro. Also highly desirable is knowledge of multimedia skills and online writing. Teaching will include skills classes and media studies courses in the university general education program.</p>
<p><b>Expected teaching load:</b> The position has a six-course teaching load, including classes in the school’s innovative weekend MA programs in Interactive Journalism and/or Media Entrepreneurship.</p>

The University of Arkansas is seeking a non-tenure track <b>Clinical Assistant Professor</b> to teach 2 sports journalism courses each Fall and Spring academic semesters. Courses include Introduction to Sports Television Production I and II (Studio and Remote Sports Production), Sports Journalism and Advanced Sports Journalism (Techniques and principles of sports coverage, and relationship to mass media).</p>
<p>The Instructor will teach in the Lemke Journalism Department, and will work closely with the Department of Athletics in coordinating the RazorVision Academy student production team, to produce live and taped programs and events for distribution through RazorVision, Athletics’ exclusive online and video demand portal (and other television partners). The successful candidate must be able to work a non-traditional schedule.</p>
<p><b>Minimum Requirements:</b> Bachelor’s in journalism or related field. Video/TV Production experience, strong communication skills, prior University teaching experience or related proficiencies, and demonstrated knowledge of NCAA sports.</p>
<p><b>Preferred Qualification:</b> Master’s in journalism or related field.</p>
<p>The salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and background. Additional summer teaching appointments are possible, but contingent on available funding and demand.</p>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Missouri School of Journalism is seeking a <b>managing editor</b> for its multimedia news product, <i>Global Journalist. </i>We invite applications for a full-time (30 hours/week), benefit eligible position. The position begins no later than August 1, 2013.</p>
<p><b>While The Missouri School of Journalism</b> has been defining journalism excellence for over a century, it is committed to defining the future. The<i> </i>“Missouri Method” is renowned for its “learning by doing” approach in which students are given real world experience through hands on work at the school’s professional news outlets and partners: NPR Affiliate; KBIA-FM; NBC affiliate KOMU-TV; the digital first newspaper, <i>The Columbia Missourian; Missouri Business Alert</i>; the weekly City magazine, V<i>ox</i>,; and the<i> Global Journalist.<br />
</i><br />
<b>The internationally recognized <i>Global Journalist</i></b> (<a href="http://www.globaljournalist.org">www.globaljournalist.org</a>) covers global issues and the challenges to a free-press around the world. Its converged newsroom produces digital, broadcast, print, mobile and social media content for local and global audiences.</p>
<p><b>About the job: </b>The managing editor will oversee and manage the publication of news and information on the <i>Global Journalist’s </i>website, mobile and social media, e-book, and print platforms. The editor will partner with the executive producer of the<i> Global Journalist</i> weekly<i> </i>radio program airing on NPR station KBIA-FM.</p>
<p>In addition to overseeing the daily and weekly content for digital and print platforms, the managing editor will work with the <i>Global Journalist </i>executive editor and KBIA executive producer in developing the strategic direction for the <i>Global Journalist</i>.</p>
<p>This position includes teaching newsroom-based courses at the undergraduate and graduate level. The students in these courses, working with professional journalists and experts from around the world, produce content for the <i>Global Journalist.<br />
</i><br />
<b>The successful candidate will have:</b></p>
<ul>
<li>Experience as a practicing journalism professional in print, broadcast, or digital platforms</li>
<li>An understanding of global issues and free-press issues.</li>
<li>A desire to teach, mentor, and inspire the 21<sup>st</sup> Century’s next generation of journalists</li>
<li>Demonstrated news management and editorial skill</li>
<li>A proven commitment to journalistic excellence and quality standards</li>
<li>A curiosity about the emerging information tools and trends and an enthusiasm to experiment and innovate</li>
<li>A demonstrated ability to incorporate new ideas and technologies</li>
<li>Great people and communication skills</li>
<li>The ability to collaborate with students and fellow faculty</li>
</ul>
<p><b>Qualifications:<br />
</b>The successful candidate must have a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of five years industry experience. A master’s degree is preferred. Prior teaching experience is a plus.</p>
