			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>We seek an <strong>assistant</strong> or <strong>associate professor</strong> to teach advertising courses and possibly lead our award-winning advertising sequence. The ideal candidate will embrace new media, a global perspective, and cultural diversity.  This position includes teaching up to three courses per semester, conducting research and working with our student ad club. The individual will teach primarily in San Marcos, but may be asked to teach at the Round Rock Higher Education Center or in San Antonio from time to time. A program of sustained, focused research or creative activity is an important component of this position. The successful candidate must be able to show that she or he either has begun and sustained a scholarly or creative program or is capable of doing so.</p>
<p>Texas State University-San Marcos is an emerging research university with more than 34,000 students and is located near Austin and San Antonio on the edge of the Texas Hill Country. The School of Journalism and Mass Communication is ACEJMC accredited and has more than 1,800 majors and offers BA, BS and MA degrees.<br />

Required qualifications:</strong></p>

<li>Terminal degree or advanced ABD in mass communication or a related field</li>
<li>Ability to teach advertising classes at the undergraduate and graduate levels</li>
<li>Have or show evidence of capability to develop a program of sustained scholarship or creative activity</li>
<li>To be eligible for hire at the associate professor rank, candidate must meet the requirements for that rank established by the department. The successful applicant will receive the appropriate rank and title based on university and department established standards.<strong></strong></li>

<p>The Department of Mass Communication at Georgia College includes advertising, print, public relations, and broadcasting and electronic media. The department has over 300 majors and oversees a PRSSA chapter, an award-winning student newspaper, a student-operated radio station, and a weekly cable news program.</p>

The School of Media Arts &amp; Design (SMAD) at James Madison University invites applications for a one-year, non-renewable teaching position to begin in August 2012.</p>
<p>The selected applicant will teach primarily in our foundations area, including professional software such as Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and Dreamweaver. The candidate will also teach beginning and intermediate web and interactive production courses that are part of our Converged Media concentration. Required skills include proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite applications, HTML and CSS. The ability to teach basic design principles, such as composition, color theory, typography and layout, is also required. The ability to teach JavaScript, jQuery, MySQL and PHP is a plus, but not required for this one-year position.</p>
<p>SMAD has outstanding media production facilities, including four Mac-based computer labs with the Adobe Creative Suite applications. Special purpose labs serve our interactive media and journalism classes. SMAD¹s video production facility is high-definition from acquisition to post-production and includes a 1,080 line HD studio/control room and 16-station edit lab.</p>
<p>SMAD has four concentrations: Converged Media, Corporate Communication, Digital Video and Cinema, and Journalism. Our faculty represents a blend of professional and academic interests. The School has more than 20 faculty members and approximately 600 undergraduate majors. <p>Our colleague will teach undergraduate broadcast journalism, digital media/video production and other assigned courses, and establish a research or creative agenda. Recent or ongoing professional media involvement is required. Teaching includes, but is not limited to, broadcast news writing and producing, video and audio collection, non-linear editing and creation of video packages, student newscast production and storytelling for digital platforms. TV studio production experience is highly desired. Successful candidates should be skilled in Final Cut and have knowledge of Adobe products. Faculty teach four courses per term, conduct research and creative activities and perform service for the department and university. A Ph.D. or MFA in a communications area is required for a tenure track appointment. Master&#8217;s required for non-tenure track (instructor) appointment. <p>The Reynolds School of Journalism seeks a dynamic video news professional who is experimenting with new media and wants to help create the a future for video and multimedia news. This faculty position will require teaching, mentoring, and helping to shape the curriculum suited to our newly constructed multi-million dollar state-of-the-art multimedia newsroom. The position is for a one year appointment. <p>The position:<br />
</strong>The School of Media and Strategic Communications at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater seeks qualified applicants for the position of distinguished <strong>visiting professor</strong> and Welch-Bridgewater Endowed Chair in Sports Media for the 2012-2013 academic year. Oklahoma State University is a Division I university leading the way in offering an undergraduate degree in sports media. The distinguished chair will have some teaching responsibilities but also will conduct workshops and give guest lectures during the nine-month appointment period. The position is well remunerated and carries a budget for travel and research. This is an ideal position for an established international scholar who wishes to teach in the United States for two semesters; however, scholars in the U.S. who wish to devote the year to a special focus on sports media research also are strongly encouraged to apply.</p>
<p><strong>Application requirements:<br />
</strong>Applicants must hold a terminal degree and preferably have professional experience in sports journalism. The successful candidate will have the ability to conduct research in sports media and teach courses in sports journalism and make an important contribution to developing the undergraduate sports degree and sports research at the school during the nine-month visiting period.</p>

</strong>The School is nationally recognized for producing outstanding practitioners in all mass communication areas and has been continuously accredited by the ACEJMC since the 1940s. Our students are actively involved in producing sports media content and assisting in live sports productions with all the major networks. The School of Media and Strategic Communications is the largest program in the College of Arts &amp; Sciences, the largest college at OSU. This is the second endowed chair the School has established recently, joining the Peggy Welch Chair in Strategic Communication.</p>

<strong>9-month position<br />
Start date: Fall 2012</strong></p>
<p>The School of Media and Strategic Communications, Oklahoma State University, invites applications for a nine-month <strong>Visiting Assistant Professor</strong> in its strategic communication degree program.<br />
<strong><br />
</strong>The successful candidate must be conversant with aspects of strategic communication and should be able to teach a wide variety of courses in the field. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic about developing scholarship and teaching in strategic communication and should be willing to work in an experimental and developing environment.</p>
<p>This is an ideal position for an international scholar who wishes to teach in the United States for two semesters; however, scholars in the U.S. who wish to devote the year to a special focus on strategic communication also are strongly encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will work with some of the world’s foremost scholars in strategic communication during this time and will be able to collaborate on research in this area.<br />

Application requirements</strong><br />
Candidates should have a Ph.D. degree or ABD in an appropriate field. The applicant should be able to teach courses such as strategic communication campaigns, strategic communication management, persuasive writing, and introduction to strategic communication in the school’s undergraduate program. Knowledge of and experience with the new media environment and global outreach is a plus. Candidates with a strong multicultural background or international experience are encouraged to apply. An active agenda of scholarly research and publication is a plus.  Candidates should have appropriate professional experience.<br />

<p></strong>Medill seeks an accomplished digital magazine journalist or academic to teach a variety of classes in the school’s renowned undergraduate and graduate journalism programs. The successful applicant will have deep experience in magazine writing and editing and in the practice and teaching digital storytelling and magazine publishing.</p>
<p>He or she will be expected to teach in such classes as magazine editing, digital publishing, innovation projects, and in collaborative ventures with other parts of the school and University. As well as teaching, the successful candidate will be expected to maintain an active research or creative/professional agenda that provides thought leadership in the academy and the profession.</p>
<p>He or she will join a distinguished faculty committed to both the enduring value of story framing, conception, reporting, interviewing and narrative skills, and the creative potential of interactive digital platforms.</p>
<p>This is a clinical or tenured position. Global interest and/or experience is a significant plus.</p>

The Electronic Media Division of the University of Cincinnati seeks a promising individual with a passion for teaching for a tenure-track appointment beginning Fall Semester 2012. The E-Media Division offers a wide array of digital video, web, and audio production classes, plus writing, news production, and media theory and business classes. It enrolls 200 majors who graduate with a bachelor of fine arts degree. It is a component of CCM, a comprehensive E-Media and Performing Arts College.</p>
<p>Teach three classes per semester in a combination of subject areas including writing, digital news production, student media practicum, and media ethics. Writing and/or electronic journalism should be the candidate&#8217;s primary interest. Develop scholarly and/or creative contributions and serve the college and community. Opportunities for cross-disciplinary collaborations may occur.</p>
<p>Tenure-track appointment at the rank of <strong>assistant professor</strong>. Salary will be commensurate with educational background and experience.</p>
<p><strong>Min. Quals.:</strong> Master&#8217;s degree, at least two years media experience and teaching experience.</p>
<p><strong>Ideal Quals.:</strong> Plus at least four years professional media experience and university-level teaching experience. A demonstrated commitment to the application of converged media production in electronic journalism.</p>
