Job Summary

Responsibilities
Teach the equivalent of a full-time (seven-course) load per academic year. Course assignments include Introduction to News Writing, News Writing in a Multimedia World, Principles of Layout and Design, Principles of Editing, and Topics in Journalism, as well as College Writing and advising the student newspaper. General faculty responsibilities will include student advising, and department and committee assignments.
Required Skills
Excellent communication, organizational, and pedagogical skills; an ability to articulate a vision for journalism in a Christian university and for preparing Christians to contribute to this field. Ability to work proficiently in different communication media.

Visiting Assistant Professor, Public Relations
The Department of Communication at Virginia Tech invites applications for a non-tenure track, two-year visiting assistant professor with teaching and research expertise in Public Relations. Communication Arts- This is a new program that emphasizes writing and production skills for the mass media, along with a theoretical understanding of the media’s function within society. The Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences (IAS) program at the University of Washington Tacoma (UWT) invites applications for a full-time Lecturer position in the area of Media Studies. This position is a 3-year renewable appointment, and begins on September 16, 2013. The position requires a Masters degree or higher in Communication, Media Studies or related field at the time of appointment and experience teaching at the university/college level. Reporting directly to the Director of the School of Communication and Media, the Associate Director, Administration works closely with the entire SCM organization and with the Office of the Dean of the College of the Arts. The Associate Director serves as a principle administrator of the School of Communication and Media and is responsible for managing the day-to-day academic and non-academic operations for the School and its staff and faculty. As a manager with concurrent faculty rank, the Associate Director will bear primary responsibility for managing the administrative and academic arrangements related to the School’s budget, curriculum, personnel reviews and governance. The President of Montclair State University appoints this position annually.
Specifically, the Associate Director, Administration coordinates and in some cases oversees faculty assignments and course scheduling, budgeting, staffing, planning, facilities and equipment, scholarships, curriculum, and accreditation. In regard to these areas he/she develops and implements policies and procedures, writes related reports, and makes analyses and recommendations as needed.

The School of Journalism and Mass Communication at FIU offers more than 40 undergraduate and graduate courses focused on providing skills and aptitudes to succeed in today’s expanding world of media, including web-based, interactive and digital communications through rapidly evolving, highly technical and field-specialized content.
