The School of Journalism and Mass Media seeks a full-time, tenure-track assistant or associate professor in media law to begin in August 2013. The position includes an affiliate appointment in the University’s College of Law.

Required Qualifications: Ph.D. in journalism, mass communication or media-related discipline, or J.D.; demonstrated teaching effectiveness at college or university level; ability to teach media law and one other area of journalism. A.B.D. applicants who will complete their dissertation by the August 2013 may be considered. For consideration as an Associate Professor, at least five years of full-time teaching as an Assistant Professor or higher rank is required.

Preferred Qualifications: Professional media experience or law practice; strong research or creative ability; interest and involvement in professional and academic organizations; experience working with multicultural populations or for media outlets serving diverse communities.

Responsibilities: Primary teaching area will be Law of Mass Media, a required course for all majors. The successful candidate will also teach one seminar per year in the University’s College of Law.

The School of Journalism and Mass Media offers bachelor’s degrees in Journalism, Advertising, Public Relations and Broadcasting & Digital Media. It has approximately 425 students and 11 full-time faculty members. The University of Idaho, located in Moscow, is Idaho’s land-grant research university.
