Chair, Department of Communications and Professional Writing

Augusta State University, soon to be consolidated with Georgia Health Sciences University, seeks a chair for its department of Communications. The department offers a B.A. in Communications with concentrations in public relations, communication studies, theatre, television and cinema, and journalism. Consolidation will bring a growing focus on research and program development. Therefore, the department seeks a leader with experience in program and curriculum development who can also support and maintain the department’s reputation for teaching excellence, and who will be a strong advocate for the department.

The successful applicant will hold a Ph.D. in one of the department’s fields; have significant and relevant academic and administrative experience, and the appropriate scholarly credentials to be hired at the associate or full professor level. The position begins July 1, 2013. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. This is a 12-month position with limited teaching duties.

As of January 2013, Augusta State University will become part of Georgia’s newest comprehensive research university and is expected to achieve an enrollment of 10,000 within the next few years. Augusta State University is an AA/EOE institution. Minorities and women candidates are urged to apply.
