Capital University’s Department of Communication invites applications for one full-time position with a start date of August 2013:

Tenure track Assistant Professor in Communication with an emphasis in Electronic Media. PhD in Communication or Media Studies is required (ABD near completion accepted); will also consider MA in Electronic Media (or related field) and professional experience, but the position would then be a term Instructor position. Successful university level teaching experience is required. Teaching load is 4/4.

Applicants should be able to teach a broad range of courses in media production and in two or more of the following areas: broadcast announcing, radio production, motion graphics, media and society, media writing, media management, and/or social media. Experience running a college radio studio highly desired. Expertise in various video and audio software, Pro-Tools, AVID, Photoshop, Motion, After Effects (preferably with certifications) and ability to teach public speaking is also required. Opportunity for curricular innovation. Candidates should have a commitment to excellence in undergraduate scholarship and teaching in liberal arts education. In addition to teaching, the position requires faculty who can supervise undergraduate capstone projects, serve on department and university committees, and advise students academically. Those considered for tenure track must have an active research agenda.
