Journalism Instructor Positions: The University of South Florida School of Mass Communications seeks applications for two non-tenure-track instructor positions at the USF Tampa campus with expertise in print and digital journalism to teach in our multimedia journalism and production sequence. Starting date for the positions is August 2013. They are nine-month positions, salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Duties will include teaching some of the following undergraduate courses in print and digital journalism: introduction to mass communications; beginning reporting; magazine and feature writing; advanced reporting; photojournalism; and/or public affairs reporting. Student advising and service to the profession are also required. The position requires evidence of, or potential for, excellence in teaching and service.
Minimum Qualifications: A master’s degree earned in journalism, mass communications, broadcasting or appropriate related fields. A minimum of five years of recent professional experience in print newspapers, magazines and/or online news media is preferred, with national publication experience a plus. The ideal candidate should have higher-education teaching experience and a strong knowledge of producing quality digital journalism across multiple platforms, as well as experience blogging and knowledge of the use of social media to deliver news.
