POSITION DESCRIPTION: ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF ADMINISTRATION • School of Communication and Media

Reporting directly to the Director of the School of Communication and Media, the Associate Director, Administration works closely with the entire SCM organization and with the Office of the Dean of the College of the Arts. The Associate Director serves as a principle administrator of the School of Communication and Media and is responsible for managing the day-to-day academic and non-academic operations for the School and its staff and faculty. As a manager with concurrent faculty rank, the Associate Director will bear primary responsibility for managing the administrative and academic arrangements related to the School’s budget, curriculum, personnel reviews and governance. The President of Montclair State University appoints this position annually.

Specifically, the Associate Director, Administration coordinates and in some cases oversees faculty assignments and course scheduling, budgeting, staffing, planning, facilities and equipment, scholarships, curriculum, and accreditation. In regard to these areas he/she develops and implements policies and procedures, writes related reports, and makes analyses and recommendations as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Advanced degree in a related field from an accredited college
- Minimum of five years of administrative experience, preferably in an academic or arts-related institution
- Significant career experience in one of the media fields that are the components of the School of Communication and Media
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, supervisory experience with budgetary planning and administration, technology competence in standard office and financial software

SALARY RANGE:
Commensurate with experience
