Assistant Professor of Communication

The Department of Communication at Flagler College invites applications for a full-time faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin August 2013. The department has 400 undergraduate majors and offers a convergence core with tracks in public relations, journalism, media production, and cinema and media studies. Candidates must hold at least a Master’s degree in Public Relations/Strategic Communication or related field of Communication; a Ph.D. is preferred. Professional experience is required. APR certification or PRSA Fellow preferred. Salary and benefits are commensurate with academic and professional experience.

Candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and evidence of scholarly work that will help build a program of national excellence in Strategic Communication. Preference will be given to candidates who can teach the following courses: Introduction to Strategic Communication, Writing for Strategic Communication, and Strategies and Campaigns in Strategic Communication. Other responsibilities include advising and mentoring students in either the PRSSA Chapter or the student run PR firm, supporting the first year program, committee service, and ongoing professional development.

Flagler College is a private independent undergraduate college with an enrollment of 2,500 students. The College is located in historic St. Augustine, Florida, 35 miles south of Jacksonville and 55 miles north of Daytona Beach.
