Assistant Professor in Mass Communication/Strategic Communication

Georgia College, the Public Liberal Arts University for the State of Georgia, is seeking a tenure track, assistant professor in Strategic Communication, emphasizing public relations in the Department of Mass Communication. The ten-month appointment begins August 1, 2013. Primary teaching responsibility will include teaching Message Creation, Advanced Strategic Communication, and Strategic Campaigns. Ability to teach design and research courses is a plus. Industry and teaching experience is desired. PhD is required – ABD will be considered but a completed PhD is required in order to be considered for promotion and or tenure at Georgia College.

The Department of Mass Communication at Georgia College offers an integrated, cross-platform curriculum including informative, persuasive, and hybrid communication courses with the goal of producing graduates with a broad knowledge of the media and its wide variety of channels. Additionally, an ideal candidate will participate in the development of online courses and community engagement through service learning in the classroom. The department is especially interested in candidates who can contribute, through their experience, research, teaching and service to the diversity and excellence of the academic community.
